Senta Licensing: Device Slots and Test Key
A Senta license is tied to your Cesbo profile. Without an active license the web interface shows the License Not Active page and streams don’t start.
How to get a license
Section titled “How to get a license”Licenses live in your Cesbo profile at app.cesbo.com. You activate a license on each Senta server: click Activate in Senta, open the link, log in to your profile and pick a license for the server. Nothing has to be copied by hand. The steps are in Add license.
License sales through the Cesbo profile have not started yet. This page will list the license model and prices when they do.
How to try it
Section titled “How to try it”Until sales start, use the public test key: it works until January 31, 2027. See Add license for how to add it.
What one license covers
Section titled “What one license covers”- Each Senta server takes one device slot of the license. This includes additional servers managed from a main server.
- When the slots run out, remove a device in your Cesbo profile or choose which one to replace.
- To move a server to another license, click
Activate againinSettingsand pick the other license.
What the license check needs
Section titled “What the license check needs”- A permanent internet connection from the server to the Cesbo license servers. The
Re-check nowbutton inSettingsruns the check right away, for example after you renewed the license. - An accurate server clock. Enable NTP.
- A writable config folder: Senta saves the activation next to its config file, for example
/etc/senta/senta.license.json. Keep this file when you reinstall Senta.
If the license servers are unreachable, the page shows the reason; see Troubleshooting for what each status means.
What the license check sends
Section titled “What the license check sends”Senta sends a signed request to the Cesbo license servers with:
- the license serial, the Senta version and the current time;
- the server hostname, the machine ID (
/etc/machine-id) and the product UUID (/sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid, empty when Senta does not run as root); - a random request ID and a session ID that lives only while Senta is running.
Cesbo logs the hostname and the machine identifiers for support. A license is never bound to an IP address, a hostname, a machine ID or any hardware: the check refuses only when the license is unknown, revoked or expired.
When a license expires
Section titled “When a license expires”An expired license shows the The license has expired status. Renew it in your Cesbo profile and click Re-check now. Until the license is active again, the web interface stays on the License Not Active page.
